Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a message of reconciliation to restive youths in the country’s Niger delta on Thursday.
The president meeting with community leaders from the region, urged them to pacify their people, in the wake of attacks on oil and gas facilities, in the last few months.
And as part of his assurance to the delegation, which met at his residence, the president restated his commitment to rebuilding the Niger Delta area, but demanded patience from aggrieved groups.
There are also indications that the government might be taking a second look at the amnesty issue, that was a sore point, in the new flare up in attacks in that region.
According to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the amnesty agreed in 2009, is being studied, with a view to determining what had been fulfilled.
